After making his directorial debut with 2014’s Top Five, Chris Rock is eyeing a return behind the camera and is in negotiations to direct Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) in Co-Parenting, a comedy set up at Universal Pictures.
Written by Yamara Taylor (Black-ish) from an original idea by Rock and Hart, Co-Parenting will see Hart playing “a stay at home dad who raises the kids while his star CEO wife serves as the breadwinner. The man finds himself in emotional and public turmoil when his wife kicks him to the curb, and they engage in a bitter divorce and custody battle.”
Co-Parenting will reunite Hart with his regular producer Will Packer, the duo having last collaborated on this year’s Night School. Hart will next be seen in January alongside Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman in The Intouchables remake The Upside [watch the trailer here], while Chris Rock recently wrapped production on Dolemite opposite Eddie Murphy, and also signed on for the lead role in the upcoming third season of FX’s Fargo.
