After the disappointing news that Ben Affleck will not be directing The Batman after all, word has come that Justice League‘s Chris Terrio has written a draft of the script based on Affleck’s and Geoff Johns’ first draft. Whether it was a full page one job – as with The Flash recently – or just punching up the previous version is not known yet.
Terrio wrote the script for Affleck’s award-winning film Argo, for which he won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards, and helped pen Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Its good to know that another frequent collaborator of Affleck’s is on board to help the burgeoning Batman solo film.
Meanwhile, Affleck and Warner Bros. are on the hunt for a new director with War for the Planet of the Apes‘ Matt Reeves reportedly on the shortlist. Affleck, however, will still be involved in the film’s development as a producer and writer as well as obviously starring in the lead role. Hopefully we’ll find out sooner or later who will replace Affleck in the director’s chair and when the movie will finally start production.
