It’s the news we’ve all been waiting a decade for, and now Chris Tucker has confirmed that Carter and Lee will return for a fourth instalment in the Rush Hour franchise.
Speaking on ESPN’s podcast, The Plug, Tucker revealed that both he and Jackie Chan had finally settled on a script. He told the sports show that “It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it”. You can listen to the audio below.

Towards the tail end of last year, Jackie Chan teased the fact that a script was close to being agreed upon, saying “For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed. The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft, and next year, probably [we will] start. I hope — if Chris Tucker agrees.”
The first two films were both box-office successes and largely enjoyable entries into the mismatched buddy cop movie genre, but by the time the third film arrived in 2007, anyone involved appeared to be dead behind the eyes, simply in it because the franchise has grossed approximately $830 million worldwide.
With Lethal Weapon 5 seemingly stuck in development hell, are you happy that these imitators will get a chance to rekindle their lost in translation chemistry for a fourth time?
