In an exclusive story, The Wrap has announced that Christain Bale (The Fighter) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) will star together in Oscar-winning director Terry George’s The Promise.
The Hotel Rwanda director has co-written the script with Robin Swicord, and will direct Bale and Isaac in the picture that is described as an “epic love story”.
Both actors are hot property at the current time, with Bale recently nominated for an Oscar and starring in Terrence Malick’s upcoming Knight of Cups, whilst Oscar Isaac will feature heavily in upcoming blockbusters X-Men: Apocalypse, as Apocalypse himself, and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, as Poe Dameron.
It is reported that: “Bale will play Chris, an AP reporter in love with both a woman and the danger of being in a combat zone amidst a world that is falling apart [and] Isaac will play Michael, a medical student in love with the same woman but conflicted by old-world traditions and his heart.”
The story will chronicle a love triangle, set in the crumbling Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey), between Chris, Michael and Ana, with an actor yet to be announced in this role.
The film is set to start production later this year, with locations set in Portugal and the Canary Islands.
