Two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained) is set to make his directorial debut with Worst Marriage in Georgetown.
Deadline reports that the film is based upon a New York Times Magazine article by Franklin Foer and ” tells the true story of Albrect Muth, an eccentric social climber who seduced and married a wealthy older widow, Viola Drath. The husband and wife threw lavish events attended by the most influential politicians from around the globe as Muth falsified his background and became a Washington, D.C. luminary. However, the house of cards he built comes crashing down when Drath was found murdered and Muth’s integrity, ethics and public persona were put on trial.”
As well as directing, Waltz is set to take on the lead role of Muth, with production set to get underway this October from a script by David Auburn (Proof).
