Christopher Nolan is often praised for his takes on film and preserving the cinematic experience, and now he’s praising a peer for their work.
The Atlantic recently published a profile about Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind projects like Watchmen, Batman v Superman, and the recent Netflix hit Rebel Moon. Titled ‘Zack Snyder, The Director People Love to Hate,’ the publication spotlighted Snyder’s rocky relationship with film culture, but he has one major supporter in the industry.
Collaborators on Man of Steel, Christoper Nolan & Zack Snyder, have been connected for years, with Nolan playing a part in Snyder’s recovery after the Justice League-era drama.
Speaking to The Atlantic, Nolan talked about Snyder’s impact on the industry. “There’s no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don’t see some influence of Zack,” says the filmmaker. “When you watch a Zack Snyder film, you see and feel his love for the potential of cinema. The potential of it to be fantastical, to be heightened in its reality, but to move you and to excite you.”
The relationship between the two filmmakers runs deep, with this statement following the recent comments where Nolan calls Snyder’s adaptation of Watchmen “ahead of its time.”
