Even with Christopher Nolan having begun production on his next big feature The Odyssey, he is still assembling his cast for the big ensemble film. Per Deadline, now joining the production are Michael Vlamis (Roswell, New Mexico) and Iddo Goldberg (Snowpiercer).
The film is based on the Greek epic written by Homer following Odysseus’ journey back home to Ithica in the decade following The Trojan War. As the anger of the Gods of Olympus thrusts him across the sea, he encounters many of the ancient beasts and characters from Greek mythology who either aid or hinder him on his voyage.
Matt Damon is playing Odysseus with the first official photo of the film released earlier this week. Only Damon’s role has been revealed thus far with the rest of the casts roles remaining under tight lock and key as is usual for a Nolan production. With cameras now rolling and our first photo, we’ll likely hear more of who is playing which classic Greek character in the coming weeks.
Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.
The Odyssey features Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Hamish Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Vlamis and Iddo Goldberg.
The Odyssey will be released on July 17th, 2026.
