Fresh off the success of this year’s hit found footage superhero feature Chronicle, screenwriter Max Landis is teaming up with producer Howard Gordon (24, Homeland) to develop a new television series for Fox entitled Vigilant, which is described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a superhero origin story told through the unlikely point of view of a smart 20-year-old woman who happens to be a social outcast.”
According to THR’s report, Vigilant will centre on the daughter of an honourable veteran detective, who creates a fictional vigilante persona to fight crime within the city and the police department after her father is brutally coerced into working for the corrupt head of Internal Affairs.
Having created the concept for Vigilant, Landis will write the script, as well as executive producing alongside Gordon. Landis has also penned a screenplay for the upcoming Mark Wahlberg / Jonah Hill action comedy Good Time Gang, while he is currently writing Chronicle 2, which will see a new director stepping in to replace Josh Trank, who is busy prepping another superhero project for Fox in the Fantastic Four reboot.
