Homeland lead Claire Danes is on the hunt for a potential murderer in the limited series The Beast in Me for Netflix. The series will mark a reunion between the actress and Homeland creator Howard Gordon, who will serve as its showrunner.
The Beast in Me will see Danes as a reclusive author coping with the death of her son. She is re-invigorated when she discovers her new neighbour was the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. She decides to use him as the source of her next book and is determined to uncover the truth, no matter how dangerous it may seem.
The official synopsis for The Beast in Me reads: “Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self,” reads the synopsis. “But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Sheldon, a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.”
The Beast in Me was created by Gabe Rotter, who will write and executive produce the series. Danes and Gordon will also executive produce alongside Jodie Foster, Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger with 20th Century Fox overseeing production.
