You wouldn’t be alone if you’d lost track of how many sequels to Clive Barker’s Hellraiser there have been since Doug Bradley’s Pinhead first terrified audiences back in 1987. Well, now there’s another to add to the list with the news that Spyglass Media are going back to the beginning to remake Hellraiser for Hulu.
Bloody Disgusting have revealed that Spyglass have hired David Bruckner to adapt Clive Barker’s horror novella, The Hellbound Heart, which Barker himself translated for the big-screen in 1987. Bruckner is perhaps most famous for 2017’s really-rather-good horror flick The Ritual, while his latest chiller, Sundance Film-Festival favourite The Night House lands on Netflix later this year. The script for this reimagining of Hellraiser will be tackled by Night House‘s Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski.

This project mustn’t be confused with David Gordon Green’s Hellraiser series for HBO. The Halloween Kills director is summoning the Cenobites to the small screen with the aid of Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ Michael Dougherty, while Clive Barker is on board as executive producer. It’s his first involvement with the Hellraiser franchise since the 1996 entry Hellraiser: Bloodline.
