UPDATE: The new film – titled The Cloverfield Paradox – is now confirmed as arriving on Netflix tonight, and we have a trailer below…
As everyone waits for the million dollar ads or Justin Timberlake half-time show, Deadline are reporting that Netflix are going to steal a march on all of the sporting razzmatazz by making the oft-delayed Cloverfield sequel, aka God Particle, a.k.a. Cloverfield Station, available to stream as soon as the game is over.
The report states that a first quarter TV spot will notify viewers that the J.J. Abrams produced sequel will be on the streaming platform tonight.
The movie was originally scheduled for theatrical release over this weekend, before being shunted to April 20th. Now this unprecedented flash mob release will add an element of excitement to a film that threatened to get lost in release date purgatory.
The Untitled Third Cloverfield Movie is being directed by Julis Onah (The Girl Is in Trouble) and reportedly follows the crew of “a space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must determine if those aboard are friend or foe.”
The film features a cast that includes David Oyelowo (Selma), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion), John Krasinski (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi), Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager), Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
