Back in 1985, board game Clue – or Cluedo as its known here in the UK – got a feature film adaptation starring Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd and Michael McKean that didn’t fare too well at the box office, but became somewhat of a cult classic on video.
Well now it looks like 20th Century Fox have optioned the rights to the board game for a reboot. Because its high time we got another Clue movie.
Hollywood had board games on the mind for adaptation a little while back with the announcements that Monopoly, Risk and Candy Land getting feature films, but when 2012’s Battleships under-performed at the box office they went cold on the idea. However with The LEGO Movie doing mega business in 2014, suddenly board games and toys are hot commodities again. Trolls and Emojimovie: Express Yourself will be hitting cinemas next year, and we’ve got Play-Doh and Playmobil in active development.
Could we see Monopoly, Risk and Candy Land get back into active development too?
