Back in October of last year it was reported that CBS Television Studios was working on a mystery-tinged TV reboot of 1995’s beloved teen comedy Clueless, and now comes word that the project has found itself a home at the Peacock streaming service.
As reported by Variety, the series – officially untitled at present – is described as “a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?”
Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (Will & Grace) are writing the reboot, while Corinne Brinkerhoff (Jane the Virgin) executive produces with Robert Lawrence, one of the producers on the original film.
Released in 1995, Clueless was directed by Amy Heckerling (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) and starred Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz, with Stacey Dash as her best friend Dionne Davenport.
