Colin Firth is set to go from Kingsman to little green men with the news that he is in talks to join Steven Spielberg’s untitled UFO event movie.
The project has previously been described as a two-hander, which means Firth will probably occupy the second lead alongside the already announced Emily Blunt. Deadline report that the Academy Award winning star of The King’s Speech is in early talks to join the cast of the Amblin and Universal pic.
Dated for May 15, 2026, the untitled UFO movie would be the first time Spielberg has looked to the skies since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), having previously made contact with Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), E.T. the Extraterrestrial (1982), and War of the Worlds (2005).
Based on an original idea by Spielberg, the script is being written by his long-time collaborator David Koepp (Jurassic Park).
Spielberg’s last movie was 2022’s semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama The Fabelmans, while next up for Firth is a rumoured return as Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
