Variety is reporting that Colin Firth (Kingsman: The Secret Service) is in talks to join the submarine disaster drama Kursk, which also has Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl) attached to star.
Kursk is being directed by Thomas Vinterberg (Far from the Madding Crowd) from a script by Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan), and “tells the true story of the K-141 Kursk — the pride of the Russian Navy — a nuclear-powered submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in August 2000. As the sailors fought for survival aboard the disabled sub, their families desperately battled political obstacles and impossible odds to save them.”
Kursk is being produced by EuropaCorp, and is slated for release in 2017.
