The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learnt of five additions to the cast of Elvis & Nixon which has just gone into production in Atlanta, with Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Tracy Letts and Sky Ferreira all signing on.
According to THR, “The movie tells of the infamous Dec. 21, 1970, meeting between Presley and Nixon, both men at the height of their power in their respective fields. The meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon an urgent six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.”
Hanks is set to play Egil Krogh, Nixon’s aide, Pettyfer will play Jerry Schilling, Elvis’ best friend, and Knoxville will play Elvis’ head of security. Sky Ferreira. who will be making her film debut .will play Schilling’s love interest. Tracy Letts’ role is unknown at this time.
Liza Johnson is directing the film with Michael Shannon starring as Elvis Presley and Kevin Spacey as President Richard Nixon. Evan Peters is also set to appear in an undisclosed role. The film does not have a release date as-of-yet.
