Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World: Dominion, has revealed how the production shutdown was beneficial to the film.
Film shoots across the spectrum have been shut down thanks to the global health crisis and this includes Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: Dominion, due out in summer 2021.
While one might expect such an inconvenience to be bad for a film, Trevorrow has revealed to Empire that there was actually some good to come of all this: “For many of us, Dominion was already the biggest creative challenge of our lives, before the lockdown.” Fortunately, the director says, “The shooting schedule really worked to our advantage – the first four weeks we put to film were mostly sequences with dinosaurs in them. So that allowed us to get a head start on VFX and workshop some of the newer elements without the pressure of a looming deadline.”

With a film as VFX heavy as a Jurassic World movie, one can see how this extra time to work on these elements would be a benefit. Hopefully, the film comes together nicely and delivers a big final entry in the Jurassic World trilogy.
Jurassic World: Dominion is being directed by Colin Trevorrow and features a cast that includes franchise returnees Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Justice Smith, Danielle Pineda, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy and Isabella Sermon along with new additions DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Mamoudou Athie (Patti Cake$), Scott Haze (Venom), Campbell Scott (House of Cards) and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon). It is set for release on June 21, 2021.
