Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has brought in Colony showrunner Ryan Condal to write a new draft of the script for Logan’s Run, the long-gestating remake of the 1976 sci-fi film.
Condal will be basing his script on a treatment from writer-producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Apocalypse), who was brought onto the project last year. The studio has previously had screenwriters Alex Garland (Ex Machina), Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) attached at one point or another, while both Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Nicolas Winding Refn (The Neon Demon) have been attached to direct.
Logan’s Run “is set in a future society where people are executed upon reaching a certain age and those that seek to avoid their fate are deemed ‘Runners.’ The protagonist, Logan, is one of those executioners, known as the Sandmen, who ends up on the run after he becomes sympathetic with members of an underground railroad of Runners.”
