You’d think that after grossing over $780 million at the global box office, Deadpool could afford more X-Men for the sequel. But, according to screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, both Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead will return in Deadpool 2.
The news comes courtesy of Collider, who interviewed Reese and Wernick, and got this information out of them:
Wernick: “I can’t say how much they are…”
Reese: “I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel.”
Wernick: “Yeah, they’ll at least make an appearance.”
So, there’s no word yet on what capacity the two mutants – who acted as both thorns in the Merc with the Mouth’s side and as allies in his final battle with Ajax Francis – will be involved. They could be full-fledged supporting characters once more, or could simply show up in a cameo capacity in order to set up the upcoming X-Force film.

UPDATE: Speaking to Nerdist, Wernick has also revealed that Karan Soni will be returning to the role of Dopinder, stating that: “I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I love that relationship and I love that character. And he’ll be in the sequel.”
We’ll likely know more in the coming months, as Deadpool 2 ramps up production. Directed by John Wick‘s David Leitch, it will once again star Ryan Reynolds in the title role, and is expected to arrive in 2018.
