Joel McHale, one of the former stars of Community, says the often joked about movie could actually happen.
Fans of the much-loved comedy Community will be well aware of the long-running gag about ‘six seasons and a movie’. The movie part of that equation looked like it might be dead in the water but things could be changing.
With the series now on Netflix and being rediscovered by audiences, Joel McHale says that the time could be now and that he has heard a few rumblings, albeit indirectly. Speaking to Variety, he said:
“There’s way more rumblings than there used to be. Alison [Brie] tweeted that she got a phone call from Sony. They still haven’t called me, maybe Matthew Lillard will take over. But I would say there’s a better chance than there’s ever been — For a long time I was like, ‘never gonna happen.’ And now I think with the renewed interest, and I know the cast is interested, that it could happen.”
So, some good news for fans of the wacky comedy series. Let’s hope it actually happens and it reunites the former cast.
