Having worked with the director on all of his projects since 2006’s Slither, composer Tyler Bates is set to reunite with filmmaker James Gunn on the upcoming DC Extended Universe supervillain ensemble The Suicide Squad, Film Music Reporter has revealed.
Along with Super and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Bates’ credits include the likes of 300, Watchmen, Deadpool 2, John Wick, Netflix’s The Punisher, and he is a frequent collaborator with the likes of Zack Snyder, Rob Zombie, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch.
Along with The Suicide Squad, Bates is also expected to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe return alongside Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which the director will move onto once he completes his work on next year’s DC blockbuster.

The Suicide Squad sees James Gunn directing a cast that includes Suicide Squad returnees Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) as well as new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker, and Sean Gunn.
