The voodoo king of New Orleans is heading to NBC’s Constantine, with USA Today revealing that Michael James Shaw has secured the role of Papa Midnite in the upcoming DC television show. The character is described as ” a formidable magical adversary for demon hunter John Constantine… though with evil forces rising on Earth, they might have to hug it out and become uneasy allies sooner than later.”
Constantine is set to premiere on October 24th in the States, with a cast that includes Matt Ryan (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) as John Constantine alongside Angelica Celaya (Burn Notice) as Zed, Harold Perrineau (Lost) as Manny and Charles Halford (True Detective) as Chas Chandler. The show has been created by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist) and David S. Goyer (Man of Steel), with Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones) directing the pilot. Watch the latest trailer here.
