Friends and Cougar Town star Courteney Cox is heading back to the small screen for the lead in Shining Vale, a half hour horror-comedy pilot set up at Starz.
As revealed by EW, the potential series will see Cox playing Patricia “Pat” Phelps, “a former wild child who rose to fame by writing a raunchy drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel, who moves with her dysfunctional family from the city to a house in a small town in which terrible things have occurred. But no one seems to notice that things are amiss except for Pat, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed.”
“As Starz continues to expand its slate of original comedy series, we are incredibly proud to bring a talented actress such as Courteney Cox to the network to topline Shining Vale,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz. “Her previous success in the genre combined with her well-honed comedic chops make her the ideal actor to bring Pat to life.”
Shining Vale reunites Cox with Jeff Astrof, a former writer and story editor on Friends, who has co-created the project with Sharon Horgan (Divorce).
Cox is no stranger to horror, having starred as reporter Gale Weathers in all four Scream movies. She also recently signed on to reunite with her Friends costars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc for an unscripted reunion special at HBO Max.
