Crimson Curse coming to Gwent: The Witcher Card Game later this month

March 18, 2019 by Andrew Newton

CD Projekt Red will be bringing out the first themed expansion for The Witcher’s spin-off card game Gwent at the end of the month.  Titled, Crimson Curse, this expansion introduces over 100 new cards and plenty of new monsters with a thirst for blood.  A gory new trailer can be seen below showing what delights can be expected from this first expansion when it’s released on 28th March.

This vampire themed expansion will feature over 100 brand new cards, including 31 neutral and 14 faction cards per each faction.  As you would expect from the vampire theme, there will be the opportunity to bleed your opponent dry with the Bleed Effect from quite a few monsters.

A few of the new cards can be seen on the Gwent website here but my personal favourite is the ‘Musicians of Blaviken’, not just only because it has so much potential with what it provides, but also with the artwork.  All artwork on the cards is really well done and captures the whole essence of the theme.

Crimson Curse will be available on the 28th March but is available to pre-order now.  This pre-order pack will include the legendary Blood Armor leader skin for Unseen Elder, Crimson Curse-themed animated cardback and 40 Crimson Curse Kegs at a special price (each keg contains 5 cards exclusively from the expansion).

All beware the Crimson Curse! Dettlaff van der Eretein, the mighty higher vampire, is summoning his kin. As the Moon turns red, new breeds of monsters awake. And after a long, deep slumber, they are all thirsty for a taste of fresh blood…
