Critters heading to the small screen for TV reboot

January 12, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Get ready for the return of the the hostile aliens the Krites, as Variety is reporting that Verizon’s go90 has ordered a TV adaptation of the cult sci-fi comedy-horror series Critters.

Entitled Critters: A New Binge and produced by Blue Ribbon Content, the comedy series sees the critters making their return to Earth in search of one of their kind who was left behind on an earlier mission. Arriving in Burbank, California, the creatures soon wreak havoc on a group of high schoolers and their families.

Jordan Rubin is set to direct, as well as writing and producing with Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan. Rupert Harvey and Barry Opper, who served as producers on the original movies, are also on board.

Released in 1986, Critters proved to be a hit both at the box office and on VHS, and was followed by three sequels in 1988, 1991 and 1992.
