Cynthia Erivo is Harriet Tubman in first trailer for Harriet

Focus Features has debuted the first trailer and a poster for director Kasi Lemmons biographical drama Harriet which stars Cynthia Erivo in the title role as freedom fighter and political activist Harriet Tubman alongside a cast that includes Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monáe, Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, and Clarke Peters; take a look here…

Based on the story of iconic freedom fighter Harriet Tubman, Harriet follows Tubman on her escape from slavery and subsequent missions to free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.

Harriet is set for release on November 1st in the US.
