Daisy Ridley isn’t hanging about when it comes to announcing future projects, because the returning Rey has just signed on to erm…hang about on the side of London’s iconic Shard for Martin Goldeneye Campbell’s high-stakes action-thriller The Cleaner.
According to Deadline The Cleaner will be set in present day London and star Ridley as (wait for it) ex-soldier turned window cleaner, Joey Locke, who happens to be suspended on the side of the Shard as radical activists take over an energy company’s annual gala in the building, taking 300 people hostage in order to expose the corruption of the hosts. Their just cause is hijacked by a zealous extremist within their ranks, who is ready to murder everyone in the building to send his anarchic message to the world. Cue Daisy Ridley, seemingly armed with only a bucket and sponge to save those trapped inside and take down the killers.
Financed and produced by the team behind Gerard Butler’s really-rather-good Greenland, filming is expected to get underway this summer.
It was recently announced that Ridley would be reprising her role as Rey in one of the Star Wars: New Jedi Order films, with Steven Knight on script duties and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing, while next up you can see her in Sometimes I Think About Dying (read our ★★★★ review here).
