A few days ago, Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Daisy Ridley seemed to suggest that 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX would mark her final outing as Rey, stating that “What I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it’s three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out.”
Well, Ridley has now clarified her comments during an interview with the BBC, where she explained that her original contract was for three films, but she is not against reprising the role for future instalments:
“When I did sign up, I did sign up for three films and that’s where I sort of saw the story ending. I think everyone has perhaps taken that as me going, ‘I don’t want anything to do with it’ which is vastly untrue because this is awesome.”
Of course, we have no idea where Star Wars: Episode IX will take the character, or if we’ll be getting a Star Wars: Episode X any time in the near future. However, Kathleen Kennedy has already stated that Lucasfilm is planning the next ten years of Star Wars, and that it would feature the likes of Rey, Poe, Finn and BB-8… assuming they survive the current trilogy, of course.
