Following the news that Meryl Streep is heading to the television for season two of Big Little Lies, we get further proof that small screen credibility has never been higher, with Variety‘s scoop that Whiplash and La La Land director Damien Chazelle has just been given a series order from Apple TV.
There are no specific details on the drama, but Chazelle will write and direct every single episode of the series, as well as executive produce, which is different to his involvement on Netflix musical series The Eddy, where he’ll only helm two episodes.
The news is further indication of Apple’s desire to become a major player in the streaming market, having already snared Kristen Wiig to headline a comedy series for the platform earlier in the year, and given a two season order to Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s morning show drama.
