Damon Lindelof is a famous creator known for his stories that confuse audiences. One thing that puzzled many people was when the creator exited his planned Star Wars project to be replaced by Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight.
Now, we know more details about what happened, even if Lindelof is still as mysterious as his work. During a recent YouTube video explaining his work, Lindelof addressed his time in the galaxy far, far away.
“I was in more than talks to join the Star Wars universe,” he said in a recent Esquire video. “I joined the Star Wars universe; I was asked to leave the Star Wars universe.”
Given the revolving door of filmmakers at Lucasfilm, this could be as much information as even Lindelof knows. When asked if he’d give Star Wars another go, Lindelof replied: “Will I get back in line outside the club and try to get back in again? Of course.”

As reported, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct a new Star Wars mainline entry 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, set to star Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker. Given his statement to Variety earlier this month, the filmmaker obviously holds no hard feelings.
He’d call the project a “true labor of love” before noting, “The movie is still happening, but unfortunately not with me.” Adding, “I wish them all the best of luck; Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an incredible director.”
Lindelof is promoting Mrs. Davis, a new science fiction comedy-drama for Peacock. The series features a cast that includes Betty Gilpin, Jake McDorman, Andy McQueen, Ben Chaplin, Margo Martindale, David Arquette, Elizabeth Marvel, Katja Herbers, Chris Diamantopoulo, Ashley Romans, Tom Wlaschiha, and Mathilde Ollivier.
