With the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the follow-up film to Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, currently scheduled to debut in theatres on November 11th, 2021, original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd, who is set to return as Ray Stantz, has praised the writer and director Jason Reitman.
“Jason is the perfect inheritor of the legacy as a writer, storyteller, and director,” Aykroyd said during an interview with Cigar Aficionado (via CinemaBlend). “His vision derives seamlessly, respectfully, and honestly from the original films. Can’t wait to see the lines around the multiplex.”
Aykroyd isn’t the only returning actor who has praised Reitman and Ghostbusters: Afterlife as Winston Zeddemore star Ernie Hudson has claimed the upcoming sequel is the one “fans have been hoping for” while Bill Murray praised Reitman’s idea for the film stating that it “really has the feel of the first one.”
From writer and director Jason Reitman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe and follows a single mother and her two children who arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
