Fans were promised six seasons and a movie; now we got the movie Community fans supposedly are still craving.
This news comes from Dan Harmon himself, as the Rick & Morty co-creator delivered long-awaited information about the Community movie teased all those years ago.
During a recent interview, one of the series stars, Alison Brie, indicated that “legitimate conversations” had begun concerning the film, and now Harmon has confirmed her story to The Wrap and says ‘negotiations’ will soon happen.
“I’ll confirm what Alison said, which is that legitimacy is here; conversations and agreements are happening,” says Harmon. “There’s a story – who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.”
In the interview, Harmon goes on to emphasize that this update doesn’t mean the film is happening anytime soon; he goes on to tease that it could be years away. However, he claims the updates come “as far as the industry is concerned, this is a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if,’ for sure.”
Community ran for 110 episodes over six seasons, with its first five seasons airing on NBC from September 2009 to April 2014. The series stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase, and Jim Rash.
