Dan Stevens is often hailed for his solid work in the horror genre, and now he’ll stretch those acting chops again in a new Universal horror film.
Deadline reports Stevens is set to co-star in Radio Silence’s upcoming project for Universal, a still-untitled Universal Monster movie. He’ll star alongside the previously announced Melissa Barrera (Scream VI).
Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett will helm the project from a script written by Stephen Shields, with revisions by Guy Busick. Scream producer Chad Villella serves as producer alongside William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt at Project X Entertainment.
Dan Stevens is best known for his work in horror films The Guest and The Rental. Stevens had a major mainstream outing starring as The Beast in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake. Next year, the actor will lead Adam Wingard’s sequel Godzilla Vs. Kong: The New Empire.
Little is known about the project, including who Stevens and Barrera will play. Though, Deadline notes the “untitled film provides a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters.” Like Renfield and The Invisible Man, Radio Silence’s film will be rooted in the horror genre, with no budget, rating, or genre restrictions.
