Deadline is reporting that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct Lionsgate’s long-gestating Harry Houdini biopic.
The project is based upon Larry Sloman’s book The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero and will depict the legendary illusionist “not just as the master of magic, but as an adventurer and investigator of the occult.” It has been scripted by Noah Oppenheim (Jackie), with Frank Marshall (Jurassic World) and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty) producing.
The Secret Life of Houdini previously had Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) attached to direct, with Johnny Depp circling the role of Houdini.
