Daniel Craig to star in The Creed of Violence

February 23, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It seems that Daniel Craig has secured his first post-007 role, with Collider reporting that the British actor is set to star in the long-gestating drama The Creed of Violence for director Todd Field (In the Bedroom, Little Children).

The Creed of Violence is an adaptation of Boston Teran’s novel and takes place during the 1910 Mexican Revolution, with an assassin, Rawbone (Craig), and his estranged son, a young government agent, travelling from Texas to Mexico to infiltrate a smuggling ring.

Field has been developing The Creed of Violence for close to a decade, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale previously linked to the role of Rawbone. The filmmaker was previously set to work with Craig on Showtime’s Purity, although the planned series failed to come to fruition after the budget swelled to over $170 million.

Craig has recently wrapped production on director Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, and will soon be reprising the role of James Bond for a fifth and final time in Bond 25.
