With Harry Potter and the Cursed Child now playing on the London stage, it’s surely only a matter of time before Warner Bros. decides to bring J.K. Rowling’s latest Potter tale to the big screen. But would Daniel Radcliffe be interested in reprising the role of the Boy Who Lived, should the opportunity arise?
“It would depend on the script,” Radcliffe told Radio Times. “The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, ‘No,’ for now, but leaving room to backtrack in the future.”
Radcliffe is yet to see The Cursed Child, revealing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that, “I want to see the show, I am genuinely intrigued and I hear it’s fantastic. I just feel like sitting in an audience that will, for the most part of the near future, be very enthusiastic Harry Potter fans might not be a … relaxing way to see a show. So, I guess, not for the time being.
So far there’s no been no word yet as to a movie adaptation of The Cursed Child, but Warner Bros. is expanding the Potter franchise this fall with the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is the first in a planned trilogy of films.
