Buzzed about Aussie-horror Talk to Me has scared up $26 million worldwide in little over two-weeks, so it comes as no surprise to learn that writer/director duo Danny And Michael Philippou have already shaken hands with A24 on a sequel titled Talk 2 Me.
Talk to Me was budgeted at around the $4.5 million mark, and the film’s critical and commercial success meant that the YouTube stars had already spoken about their plans for a sequel and prequel to the cult-horror hit. Well, now Deadline has confirmed that a follow-up has been given the green light, which will be written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, and directed by Danny and Michael Philippou.
Following raves out of Sundance (read our ★★★★ review here) A24 acquired Talk to Me for a high-seven figure sum, and it has paid off in their pockets by out-grossing the domestic cume of the indie studio’s Midsommar ($17.3M), Bodies Bodies Bodies ($11.4M), and is well on the way to passing the total of Robert Egger’s The Witch($25.4M). It’s a big severed hand-style thumbs up for A24.
