Danny DeVito “always wanted to do Matilda 2”

November 28, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Actor and director Danny DeVito has revealed that out of all of his previous movies, he would most have liked to revisit the world of Matilda before star Mara Wilson grew up.

“I always wanted to do Matilda 2, but when the kid was still a kid,” DeVito said in the interview with ComicBook. “But that was like 20 years ago, 25 years ago. Maybe Matilda has a kid and we can do something that, I don’t know.”

As Matilda star Mara Wilson is an adult now, any sequel to the 1996 film would most likely have to feature Matilda has an adult with her child possessing a similar gift, as DeVito suggested in the interview. However, a reboot would seem like the most likely option these days.

Additionally, last year Netflix signed a partnership with The Roald Dahl Story Company to adapt the author’s novels into animated event series which included Matilda and so its a possibility that is how might we see the brand continue in the future.

Would you like to see Matilda 2 directed by Danny DeVito? Or is a reboot the safer option? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
