When you think about it, it makes total sense. In a Facebook Q&A session, director James Gunn revealed that Danny DeVito tested for the role of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy and explains why he eventually went with Bradley Cooper.
“In all honesty, Danny DeVito is one of the voices we tried out, but Danny DeVito is an older man now and Rocket is not an older man, he’s a younger man,” Gunn explains. “And Danny DeVito’s voice just wouldn’t work.”
When asked if he would ever think of re-casting Cooper, he simply said, “not gonna happen.”
