The Tracking Board is reporting that Oscar nominated director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) is in negotiations to helm the long-gestating film about the life of Evel Knievel.
Aronofsky, whose last film was 2014’s Noah, is said to be in early talks to take over the director’s chair for the film, which has been in development at Sony for over a year with Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher) attached to star. The script, which was written by Reid Carolin and Tatum, was circulating last year before it was shelved but now looks like it might possibly be resuscitated.
Daredevil Knievel was a world-famous motorcycle stuntman who famously tried (and failed) to jump Snake River Canyon in 1974 on a rocket. He died in 2007. A documentary about Knievel, Being Evel, co-produced by Johnny Knoxville, has just been released in the US, with its UK debut set for this year’s London Film Festival.
