Dave Bautista has been pursuing the starring role of Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War movie for years.
Video game adaptations don’t exactly have a strong history but that won’t stop many fans wanting to see an adaptation of the Xbox 360 title Gears of War. The makers of the game announced a partnership with Universal to bring Gears of War to the big screen back in 2016 but so far nothing yet has materialised.
Star of Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista, is one man who is very keen for the film to become reality and has revealed to Gamespot in a Twitter Q&A that he has been actively pursuing the starring role of Marcus Fenix for years.
“It’s so funny that you mention that,” the actor said, “because I have been pursuing Gears of War for years now. I believe it’s in the hands of Universal Studios and I have been knocking on their door and badgering them, they’re so sick of me [laughs] calling them and asking where they are on that project. Yes, Marcus Fenix is absolutely a dream role for me. I want that role.”

Well, Bautista certainly seems passionate about obtaining the role and from the sounds of it, Universal are well aware. Who knows, perhaps his persistence will pay off and we will see a Dave Bautista led Gears of War adaptation in the near future.
