It’s the stuff of many a Twitter timeline, but ask what people’s favourite David Fincher movie is and Zodiac will be hovering somewhere near the summit, closely followed by Se7en. So the news that the Mank director is reuniting with his screenwriter on the latter, Andrew Kevin Walker, for a Netflix thriller called The Killer, is very exciting indeed.
The Killer will be an adaptation of a French graphic-novel series by Alexis Nolents and Luc Jacamon, which follows the life of an unnamed assassin who suffers a psychological crisis as he attempts to remove himself from the political ramifications his killings have caused.
Nolents’ Headshot was previously turned into Sylvester Stallone vehicle Bullet to the Head. Deadline are also reporting that Michael Fassbender has been in talks to star in the new Netflix film and has met with Fincher, who is keen to make The Killer his next project.
Fincher already has serious kudos when it comes to this genre and the streaming giant, having overseen two seasons of the critically acclaimed Mindhunter, and he is also currently striding into awards season off the back of Mank.
