David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2, reveals that Disney hasn’t yet contacted him about Deadpool 3.
One of the most fascinating things about the Disney takeover of 20th Century Fox is how they will handle their newly acquired R-rated properties like Deadpool.
Deadpool is one of the most beloved superhero franchises out there but with David Leitch’s recent comments, it seems like Disney haven’t yet spoken to him about making a third movie. Talking to ComicBook.com, the director said:
“In everybody’s world, everybody wants to make it. So, if I was ever approached to make Deadpool 3, my answer would be, ‘Hell yes,’ but I think there’s a lot of things going on in the shake up with Fox and Disney and where that whole Marvel world after Endgame is gonna be. When the dust settles, let’s hope that Deadpool lives. That’s kind of ironic, right?”
Fans will certainly be nodding in agreement with these comments. Hopefully, once Marvel’s future plans after Avengers: Endgame are in place, a home for Deadpool can be found. But whether that will be a continuation of the Ryan Reynolds franchise, or an MCU reboot, remains to be seen…
