David Oyelowo to star in Disney musical Cyrano the Moor

October 2, 2017 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Disney is in development on a live-action musical from writer Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight) entitled Cyrano the Moor, which is set to star David Oyelowo (Selma).

According to the site, the project will be an amalgamation of William Shakespeare’s Othello and the French play Cyrano de Bergerac. Oyelowo is also attached to produce alongside his wife Jessica Oyelowo and Yoruba Saxon (A United Kingdom).

Oyelowo is currently shooting the YA adaptation Chaos Walking, and returns to voice the character of Agent Kallus in the fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels this month. His upcoming slate also includes the Blumhouse thriller Only You, and the as-yet-untitled 2018 Cloverfield movie.
