Last year, it was announced that Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and Felicia Day (The Guild) had signed on to lend their voices to an animated feature based upon the Image Comics series Chew, and now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that David Tennant (Doctor Who) has also joined the cast.
Tennant is set to voice Mason Savoy, mentor to Detective Tony Chu (Yeun) and the villain of the movie. The role was initially earmarked for Robin Williams, who was in negotiations before his passing last year. It will mark Tennant’s second upcoming comic book-related role, with the British star also appearing as Zebediah Killgrave, a.k.a. The Purple Man, in Marvel’s Netflix series Jessica Jones.
Chew has been written by comic book co-creator John Layman, and is being directed by Jeff Krelitz (Torchwood: Web of Lies, Peter Panzerfaust).
