Fresh from his role as the villainous Kilgrave in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, David Tennant is now in production on Mad to Be Normal, a biopic of world-renowned Scottish psychiatrist R. D. Laing, which sees him starring alongside Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Michael Gambon (Gosford Park) and Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects).
“I have long been fascinated by the life and work of R. D. Laing,” Tennant tells Screen International. “This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and discover this important man and I am honoured and thrilled to be involved in telling this story. Robert Mullan’s passion for the subject is inspiring and the presence of the brilliant Elisabeth Moss makes this something I cannot wait to start work on.”
Mad to Be Normal is being directed by Robert Mullan (Letters to Sofija, Gitel, We Will Sing), who has also previously written three books about Laing.
