Once he finishes work on his upcoming Tarzan movie, it looks like David Yates will be heading back to the world of Harry Potter, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the director is in talks with Warner Bros. with a view to helming the upcoming spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Based on J.K. Rowling’s charity book of the same name and scripted by Rowling herself, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set some 70 years before the adventures of the Boy Wizard, and will revolve around “magizoologist” Newt Scamander – the “author” of said book.
Yates of course has extensive experience in Rowling’s wizarding world, having directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2.
Are you happy to see David Yates taking on Fantastic Beasts, or should Warner Bros. have went in another direction?
