DC Universe’s upcoming Stargirl series has added two more names to its cast, with Yvette Monreal (Matador) and Christopher James Baker (True Detective) signing on as series regulars.
Details on Monreal and Baker’s roles are being kept under wraps, with Deadline reporting that both are described only as “undisclosed DC characters”.
Stargirl follows High School sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. It is set to reimagine the character and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a “fun, exciting and unpredictable” way.
Brec Bassinger (Bella and the Bulldogs) is set to take on the lead role of Courtney Whitmore, a.k.a. Stargirl, while Anjelika Washington (Young Sheldon) has also been cast in a mystery role.
Stargirl is slated to hit DC Universe in September 2019, and is the sixth original series ordered for the streaming service after Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn and Young Justice Outsiders.
