Having opened almost a month ago to the day, 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff Deadpool has now reached another box office milestone, passing the $700 million mark worldwide with $708.1 million and counting.
The Merc with a Mouth is now the fourteenth highest-grossing superhero movie of all time, and has outperformed the likes of Man of Steel ($668 million), Thor: The Dark World ($644.6 million) and Iron Man 2 ($623.9 million). It is just $900k shy of The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s haul of $709 million and should also overtake Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714.4 million) by this time next weekend.

Deadpool is out now and sees Ryan Reynolds reprising the role of the Merc with a Mouth alongside T.J. Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction) as Weasel, Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Stefan Kapicic (24) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
