Marcin Wrona, director of Polish horror film Demon, has died suddenly at the age of 42, only a week after his film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Wrona passed away in his hotel room after returning to Poland, having premiered Demon in Toronto to a series of encouraging reviews, according to a statement from a personal friend published via Twitch.
“Polish police are currently investigating the death and no further information is available,” the statement said.
Our condolences go out to Wrona’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Demon, which focuses on a bridegroom’s possession by a dybbuk at his wedding, is set to play at several other festivals worldwide before a Polish cinema release next month.
